Owner Surrender Policy for Dogs
At Hella Dam Bitches n Queens Rescue Inc., we understand that sometimes circumstances change, and individuals or families may find themselves in a situation where they need to surrender their beloved pet. We are committed to providing the best possible care and second chances for dogs in need. However, to ensure the welfare of the pets in our care, we have established the following owner surrender policy:
1. Foster Until Adopted or Surrender Fee:
Foster Commitment: If you need to surrender your dog, we kindly request that you commit to fostering your pet until a suitable forever home is found. Fostering allows us to continue providing your dog with love, care, and attention while we search for the perfect match.
Surrender Fee: If you are unable to foster, we ask for a surrender fee of $500. This fee helps cover the costs associated with finding a new home for your dog, including medical expenses, vaccinations, boarding, and more.
2. Providing Information:
We ask that you provide us with as much information as possible about your dog. This includes their schedule, routine, habits, and personality traits. Any details you can provide will help us create a more accurate biography for potential adopters.
3. Medical Records:
Please share your dog's complete medical history, including vaccination records, any ongoing medical conditions, and any medications they are currently taking.
4. Photos and Videos:
High-quality photos and videos of your dog are invaluable in helping us find the right match. Showcasing your dog's personality and appearance through visuals can greatly enhance their chances of being adopted.
5. Biography:
A heartfelt biography that describes your dog's personality, likes, dislikes, and any training they've received can make a significant difference in finding them a loving home. Be as detailed as possible, as this helps potential adopters get to know your dog better.
6. Open to All Families:
We are committed to finding the best possible homes for our rescue dogs. While we aim to match dogs with families that are the best fit, we are open to considering families you may not initially think of as the perfect match. Our priority is the well-being of the dog.
7. Older Dogs:
We understand that older dogs may face more challenges in finding new homes. However, we are dedicated to finding loving families who are willing to provide a comfortable and happy retirement for older dogs.
8. Training Matters:
Dogs with prior training are often easier to rehome. If your dog has received obedience training, please let us know. This can be a significant asset when matching them with potential adopters.

To ensure the well-being of the cats we take in, we have established the following owner surrender policy:

We deeply value your cooperation in following this owner surrender policy, which allows us to continue our mission of saving and rehoming cats in need. Our goal is to ensure that every cat in our care finds a safe, loving, and permanent home.
Don’t panic, but please read this carefully.
HDBnQ Rescue is a 100% volunteer-run, foster-based rescue. We do not have a physical facility to house new arrivals. Our intake capacity is determined entirely by our available foster homes.
The "Village" Policy
We’re only as strong as our foster network. If you’ve found kittens, here is how we can work together:
If you can foster: You keep the kittens safe until they are adopted or can be moved into another rescue foster home. If you step up to foster, we can help. We provide the medical backing, vaccinations, spay/neuter, and adoption services.
The Fine Print: You’ll sign a surrender agreement so we can legally handle their care. Because you are fostering, the surrender fee is waived. *
Keeping one? If you decide to keep any of the kittens, they must be fixed. We’ll help make that happen affordably and safely to break the cycle of unwanted litters.
Mama Cat: If she is with you or can be caught, she must be spayed. We can help with scheduling and cover the cost—we just need to ensure she’s taken care of.
If you cannot foster: We will add you to our waitlist and work to hunt down a volunteer who has the space. Please be aware that this can take a hot minute, as we have to find an available volunteer before we can confirm intake.
Your Responsibilities as a Temporary Guardian
Safety First: All pets must stay indoors and secure until they’re fixed and cleared by a vet. This keeps them healthy and safe from injury or illness.
Check the Facts: Is mama actually gone? She might be out hunting—give her a beat to return before assuming they are abandoned.
Stay in Touch: You’ll keep in close contact with our team and follow all vet/care instructions. We're here to support you, but clear communication is how we give these babies the best shot at a great future.
We aren't trying to be difficult—we’re trying to keep the ones we have alive.
